A/T Firestop Solutions Inc. is the city's first specialized fire stop application company and is in demand as buildings require advanced fire protection under national and provincial building codes. The codes say penetrations through fire rated walls and floors must be sealed to prevent the passage of fire and smoke into adjoining areas.

Company owner-manager Victor Wootton says such applications are usually commercial or industrial in nature and include hotels, hospitals, schools, office buildings, municipal and government buildings, etc.

Part of the experience is the training of individuals throughout Ontario and the Eastern U.S to prepare fire safety documentation for building inspectors and coached them on how, and to whom to market their services.

Fire stopping has become a needed and necessary protection in the construction industry. Up until now it was usually provided by the trades who cored the penetration through the fire rated partitions.
